Born in Paris in 1902 and died in Venice in 1982, Jean Picart Le Doux is a self-taught painter who began his professional life in bookbinding and publishing. In 1933, he approaches the graphic arts and advertising. He met Lurçat in 1939, but made his first cardboard boxes in 1943. He is a founding member of the Association des Peintres Cartonniers de Tapisseries (APCT), he created numerous cardboard boxes and obtained commissions from the State, local authorities and French and foreign companies. Jean Picart Le Doux was a professor at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs - He took part in several international exhibitions and is represented in the collections of several museums including the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (Jean Cassou, Max Damain, Renée Moutard Uldry - 1957 - La Tapisserie Française et les Peintres Cartonniers, p.120).
