The Galerie Chevalier, located today at 25, rue de Bourgogne in the 7th arrondissement, after almost 40 years on the quai Voltaire, specializes in antique tapestries (from the 16th to the 18th centuries), modern tapestries (from 1920 to 1960), contemporary tapestries (from 1970 to the present day) and contemporary textile art. A must for textile lovers, the Galerie Chevalier receives an international clientele composed of private individuals, museum curators and interior designers.
For 20 years, the Parsua rugs published by the Galerie Chevalier have combined luxury and sustainable development.

Galerie Chevalier

One can admire the great names of the 20th century tapestry revival (Jean Lurçat, Mathieu Matégot, Pierre Daquin, Emile Gilioli, Robert Wogensky…) and the contemporary artists who use, decline or divert this medium in the 21st century (Jon Eric Riis, Françoise Paressant, Daniel Riberzani, Mathieu Ducournau or Victoria Tanto).

There are also contemporary rugs from the Parsua brand, created and edited exclusively by the Galerie Chevalier. Finally, the Galerie Chevalier also offers expertise for individuals and professionals, a cleaning and restoration service of very high quality and the rental of tapestries and rugs.

Parsua, the rug edition brand of the Galerie Chevalier

We are going to tell you a beautiful Persian story…or how the contemporary rug entered the world of ethical and responsible luxury. Parsua is first of all the will of a great antique dealer, Dominique Chevalier, and an Iranian friend, to initiate the renaissance of the Persian rug to create the antiques of tomorrow. In 2001, a series of trips to Iran (the ancestral home of the rug) and meetings with weavers and dyers began to find motivated artisans capable of reviving ancient techniques, which had been forgotten.

When we created Parsua, we already had sustainable development in mind: Persian rugs made as in the 17th and 18th centuries, made in village houses, (and not in factories), finely hand-knotted with local hand-spun wools, exclusively natural dyes, a patina patiently made with water and sun, without ever having recourse to the use of chemical products that alter the fiber in its heart and have negative repercussions on the environment and on the people who use them (chemical dyes, acids, …).

A family story

This gallery is the continuation of the family business that dates back to 1917. From now on, the management is assured by Céline Letessier and Amélie-Margot Chevalier, continuing the passion initiated by their parents Dominique Chevalier and Nicole de Pazzis Chevalier. The two sisters, who are very close, have been working together for over fifteen years. Amélie-Margot is in charge of the artistic direction of the gallery as well as the research on the pieces. She is an expert in modern tapestries and contemporary textile creation (member of the Compagnie Nationale des Experts and the Syndicat National des Antiquaires). Céline focuses on the management of the company and the development of the contemporary rug brand Parsua.

We represent the past but
we have the intuition of the future.
