In 1974, a major exhibition entitled ‘Art sénégalais d’aujourd’hui’ was held at the Grand-Palais in Paris, presenting for the first time the work of 33 major artists from the Dakar School, including fifteen tapestries. Fifty years later, as a further tribute to these artists and to the tapestry manufacturers of Thiès, in Senegal, Galerie Chevalier & Parsua unveils the fruit of several years of research and serendipity, bringing together an exceptional collection of eighteen tapestries made between the late 1960s and the 1980s.
It’s also an opportunity to discover the gallery’s new space renovated by the NeM agency (Bourse de Commerce, Pinaultcollection…), covering some 200 square metres between theXXL glass roof and the inner courtyard.
